The Source Code Checkout task is providing an "Include / exclude files" in its section "Change detection options", but that should merely skip the listed files and/or directories for change detection.
The idea is to exculde files and/or directories from physically being fetched from Git central and that feature is currently not part of Bambo's Source Code Checkout task.
As an alterntative the following should be possible.
- Guidelines can be given so that unnecessary files and directories are simply not part of repositories.
- Besides .gitignore can be used (which is the typical appraoch by-passing that situation) - see also Atlassian Tutorial – .gitignore.
- If used for e.g. a subsequent deployment, once the complete repository is copied in, the files and directories can be re-packaged in Bamboo's working directory (e.g. per a Bamboo Script task) and by that the the exclusions be carried out or
- the Source code Checkout task as a whole can be scripted and utilizing e.g. .git/info/sparse-checkout together with git pull.
Nonetheless, a physical file and/or directory exlusion feature would be benificial in various Bamboo build and deployment scenarios.
