Details

    Description

      Issue Summary

On Windows OS, starting up Bamboo 7.0.1 as service fails.

      Steps to Reproduce

The issue can be reproduced for a fresh Bamboo 7.0.1 installation on Windows and also for a Bamboo upgrade to Bamboo 7.0.1 on Windows.

For Bamboo upgrade (from e.g. 6.10.4 which runs as Windows service):

      1. Shutdown the running Bamboo service
      2. Upgraded Bamboo to 7.0.1. That works fine including uninstalls the existing Bamboo 6.10.4 service.
      3. Navigated to Bamboo installation directory and run InstallAsService.bat. That fails with the following error message:
Neither the BAMBOO.exe file nor the Bamboo.exe file was found...
Either the CATALINA_HOME environment variable is not defined correctly or the
incorrect service name has been used.
Both the CATALINA_HOME environment variable and the correct service name are
        required to run this program.

An new installed Bamboo 7.0.1 or an upgraded Bamboo 7.0.1 launched via start-bamboo.bat, so run as a process on Windows works as expected.

      Expected Results

Bamboo can be started and runs as expected once being started as a Windows service.

      Actual Results

The above error appears in Bamboo log and Bamboo will not start as Windows service.

      Workaround

If available, file service.bat from Bamboo 6.10.4 can be used instead of the one being part of Bamboo 7.0.1.
