Description
At the moment it's possible to only terminate instances via UI ("Manage Elastic Instances"). Also the automatic instance management does a termination. I think also the schedules do a termination (correct me if I'm wrong).
But e.g. a standard use case today is to use Docker and since your standard AMI has not nearly the latest Docker version this needs to be updated manually. Unfortunately this is done on the root file system - and this gets dumped if the instance is terminated
