in our development we have a number of submodules. Our 'home grown' build system implemented an entire module of git commands, one of which the option to use the 'head' of submodules, rather than the checked in SHA1.

In migrating our build system to bamboo we no longer need to do anything with git and I would prefer to keep it that way by having bamboo support the git feature of submodule update --remote.

in the meantime, I will investigate the suggested workaround to simply add a task to run 'git submodule update --remote immediately following the source checkout task.
