Automatically trigger deployment for an automatically created plan branch build

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Branches for deployment projects are available since Bamboo version 5.2 - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BAM-13268, but it still doesn't support feature branches (the ones that Bamboo automatically detects after the deployment project configuration is done).

Please add the functionality to automatically trigger a deployment from an automatically created plan branch.

1 for this being a needed feature. There's been open tickets for this feature for 6 years now.

mikado2088, jianan.quan, dennis.xiao what is your main use case? Is your deployment actually creating a new environment (like in k8s); or do you deploy to preexisting one? In second case how would you prevent accidental overriding on your environment?

I don't understand how this isn't already a feature... feels like a very lacking feature that puts you behind the competitors..

It is helpful when it can be done automatically

It would be nice if we can auto deploy the automatically created plan branch build!

This would be really nice to have. We have a lot of changes in flight, which means a lot of branches. We make extensive use of automatic branch plan builds, but having to remember to add a deployment trigger is causing some friction in our team.

It seems to me that it would be pretty straightforward for Bamboo to offer the same functionality for deployment triggers as it already does for automatic branch plan creation. Just a regular expression.

1 Currently got a build plan that creates branch plans with the regex (feature|hotfix|release)/.

Being able to trigger Deployments for our QA environment for branches that match __release/.+ would be super useful. It's one of the things stopping us from having that be a completely automated system.

Would also not mind if I could trigger from Tags rather than every commit to those branches.

Currently evaluating Bamboo (60,000 person enterprise)

Would love to at least see a REST API that allowed us to extend deployment plans to accompany our feature based builds. We automatically spin-up an environment in AWS per feature and need to automatically spin-up that environment within the deployment tool we use. Love the feature support on the build side - why no love on the deployment side?

            Cheers,
            Bryce
