Description
On 8/26, our elastic builds began to fail with the message:
/mnt/bamboo-ebs/elasticbeanstalk-cli/bin/../lib/aws/client/awsqueryhandler.rb:1:in `require': no such file to load – rubygems (LoadError)
We are using the stock Elastic Bamboo instance:
AMI idami-0a4d3f63
EBS volume / snapshot idsnap-7eb11338
It looks as if the stock image has been modified to no longer come with 'rubygems' installed. Would be fine except the Amazon distro dependencies are also broken and installing the rubygems package on the host instance leads to dependency errors. We could potentially workaround by forcing a downgrade to ruby and ruby-libs in order to allow the installation of rubygems. The workaround is fragile and it would be far better if the elastic host image and/or amazon distro was fixed.
We have also opened an issue with Amazon re. the broken distro.

It's not clear whether this report should be filed here or under the 'Atlassian Support' project so I have done both.
