Branch builds provide poor visual indicators of build status

Related to BAM-12259, it seems there almost no way to get a fast visual status of the state of all the builds across all the branches; both the dashboard and the wallboards seem to only show the status of the primary plan, regardless of the state of branch failures.

The use case I was looking into was to have release candidate builds be a branch of either our development or our production build plans, but in either case, the lack of visibility into the state of the branch plans makes it really difficult to use branches in this model.
