Currently, when using Jira Automation to populate the Description or any rich text field during work item creation or updates, checkbox syntax (for example, []) is treated as plain text and not rendered as interactive checkboxes.

This limitation exists because Automation doesn’t interpret Markdown or wiki markup, nor does it allow structured input in the advanced field editing using ADF for the Description field — leading to errors such as:

(Operation value must be a string (description))

As a result, users cannot automatically insert formatted checklists or checkbox items into the Description field using automation.

Request:
Add support for rendering checkboxes (or ADF checklist items) in the Description field via Automation rules. This would allow teams to automatically include structured checklists or templates on issue creation, improving consistency and workflow efficiency.
