Atlassian recently rolled out the "Send direct slack message" and similar actions for Automation for Jira Service Management: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-automation-actions/#Send-Slack-message (this differs from the longer-running "Send message to Slack channel" action).

As of now, these actions are only available in the automation editor when working in Service management projects, or in the global automation editor.

The ability to send a Slack direct message (DM) to a single person is very useful in many contexts, including in Software projects. The send Slack DM action should be available when using the Automation Editor for Software and Business projects as well - allowing Project Admins (not only global admins) to leverage it.

Current workaround

Use the Global Automation editor to use these actions/components on a Software/Business project.
