Issue Summary
Customers are requesting the capability to automate the creation of sub-tasks using content generated by Atlassian AI from the parent issue's description field. This feature is particularly desired by teams looking to optimize their workflow efficiency with AI-driven automation.
Steps to Reproduce
- Enable Atlassian AI in a Jira Cloud instance.
- Attempt to configure Jira Automation to create sub-tasks automatically using AI-generated content from a parent issue's description.
Use Case: "We have a specific scenario where a user from the QA team would like to leverage the "Improve issues" feature to automatically generate test case sub-tasks. The idea is to use the content provided in the description field of a parent issue and have Atlassian AI generate relevant test case sub-tasks accordingly. This would significantly streamline the process of test case creation and management."
Expected Results
Users can configure Jira Automation to utilize Atlassian AI for generating and populating sub-tasks based on parent issue descriptions, thereby enhancing task management and efficiency.
Actual Results
Currently, Jira Automation can create sub-tasks, but it cannot leverage Atlassian AI to generate content for these sub-tasks automatically. Users must manually invoke AI features, which limits the potential for full automation.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
