Summary
When we have an Automation Rule with the Edit Issue Fields > Organizations > We have a drop down to select "Use Reporter's Email Domain" to select Organization.
This option will navigate through the Email Address of the user and Traverse if the user is part of any organization and then add that organization to the Organizations Field.
However, we notice that when the Email Visibility is set to Private "Only you and Admins" for users with Atlassian Account, then the Automation does not Recognize the Email address and hence it does not update the Organizations Field.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create an Automation Rule ( When Issue Created > Edit Organizations Fields "User Reporter's Domain" )
- Set the Email Visibility of the user ( Agent ) to Private
- Add this User to a Test Organization
- Raise a Ticket
Expected Outcome
- The Organizations field should be updated with the Organization Name of the Agent
Actual Outcome
- The Organizations field remains empty
WorkAround
- Workaround 1 : Change the Email Visibility to Anyone or Organization Level
- Workaround 2 : Change the Rule Action to : Org Admin Account
