Jira Product Discovery
Issue Summary
Automation for Jira (A4J) system users are not automatically added to the Jira Product Discovery (JPD) user group nor granted JPD product access by default.
This causes automation failures that require interaction with JPD projects and JPD fields, presenting a challenge for users to identify and resolve the underlying permission issues.
Steps to Reproduce
- Implement an automation rule in the JPD project that requires interaction with JPD-specific fields, using the "Automation For Jira" as the Actor.
- Run the automation
Expected Results
The A4J system user should have default access to JPD products, allowing the execution of automation rules involving JPD projects and fields.
Actual Results
The automation rule fails to execute correctly, resulting in errors.
These errors are often misleading, pointing towards issues (i.e. Unknown fields set during edit, they may be unavailable for the project/type. Check your custom field configuration)
Workaround
Manually grant A4J users access to JPD products by navigating to User Management, selecting any user, and modifying the URL to the A4J system user's UUID - `557058:f58131cb-b67d-43c7-b30d-6b58d40bd077`.
