Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.
Problem Definition
The Jira Cloud for Slack app does not allow for approvers to approve a Jira Service Desk request directly from Slack. The option to have approval workflows that go directly into Slack with quick actions will help these workflows move faster.
Suggested Solution
Add the option to approve or decline a Jira Service Desk request that needs approval directly from Slack via an integration.
Workaround
Set up a notification in Jira Cloud for Slack when the request is transitioned to the approval status. The approvers can be notified in Slack but they will have to click the request to open Jira Service Desk where the request can be approved or declined.
[API-212] Add approval workflow to Slack integration
I hope we can have this request working rather than use the workaround.
Would be great if approvals are supported in the Jira Cloud Slack app, outside of Atlassian Assist. Not all of our JSM projects are connected to a Slack channel because the new "Forms" in JSM is not supported by Assist.
There is a request to the developers: we need the ability to display additional fields in the assistant to make a decision before approving\declining. Now these fields are fixed (Summary, Description, Approvers, Due date, Priority, Reporter, Type) and for example there is no way to see comments or define fields to display on your own.
Hey all, it seems that they did actually release this feature in Assist. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/work-on-issues-in-slack/#Approve-or-decline-requests
Side note on setting this up. The integration currently requires the approvers to be added as request participants to get notified in Slack unless they join an Assist configured channel.
Let me know if I am missing something, but I figured I'd share.
Is there a view of including insight fields in general with the slack side of things. Approvals now are great, but not being able to pass over insight information means that someone cannot see what they are being asked to approve when it comes to capex or other approvals where information is coming from insight.
For us it works on all users/approvers including those without a agent license.
Please seek support on the community pages or directly with Atlassian. This is just to track the feature request/availability.
Is this enabled for everyone who may be an approver on a ticket or just service desk agents? Looking through the documentation and testing it, it seems like it doesn't work for non-agent users who are listed as an approver on a request?
This is now available through the Jira Assist slack integration. More information at https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/manage-chat-settings/#Disable-request-approvals
