This is Alli from the Confluence search team.

I wanted to follow-up and share that breadcrumbs were added to the advanced search results in May!  You can find more details here:

CONF-30698CONF-11750CONF-34892 are all for the same request, please add full path in search quick search and full search result page.

I don't understand how this options was there with search results renderer and was removed. Windows show the path to file in their search results since their first version and never removed it. Why do we don't have this feature in confluence, it makes the search really useless. We currently name our pages with the full path in the name in order to work around, what a waste of time when we need to rename a folder. CONF-30698 really expresses the need perfectly. Hope this will be solved soon.

I was thinking the same. We have normal articles and blog entries. When I search for an article, I can't differentiate the page types in the search results. A breadcrump would solve this.

+1, would help to integrate page history and search results for better structured content

This should be so easy to implement, yet it would make Confluence's search much more usable! (Even though it has already become better...)

            We really miss this feature.
This would particularly be useful with spaces that are highly organised in structure.
Say I have page structure as:

            • internal
            • external
then when I search for something, I cannot see in the search result whether the pages are in the internal or external section. I have to open each page to find out where the particular page is located.
This is very frustrating for our users.

Hey there, it's 2013 - any updates for this issue?
A new customer asks for this feature. Is it such a time-consuming issue? Any workarounds, ideas or help?
            Cheers, Chris

You have my vote as well. This would be a very useful improvement to the search results. In order to make it less resource intensive, perhaps the breadcrumbs can be searched & rendered separately for each page of search results? So the breadcrumbs for search page #5 would only be fetched when I visit page #5.

Now we are in 2010. Any chances you are soon going to take a look at that feature???
