      NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Cloud. Using Confluence Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      At the moment the search results are displayed in a 'source' (wiki markup) format. As we use the wiki for an help it would be very usefull (and less confusing for the end users) if we could get the search results in rich text format.

            Thank you for raising this issue. While I can see how this feature would be useful, we have no plans to implement it in the foreseeable future. In order to set expectations, we're closing this request now. Thanks again for your idea.

            This is an annoying problem and also affects the overview display of labeled articles. See http://www.schirmacher.de/label/INFO/apache. The overview list is useless since the first content in the article is an

            {html}

            macro.

            It is still broken in Confluence 3.0.

            My suggestion for resolving this:

            1. for search results and label overviews, the list should not render any macros
            2. for label overviews only, if there is an {excerpt}

              section available, use the content of this section instead of the first lines of the article

            Christine, with so few votes on this issue, it hasn't appeared on our schedule yet. That said, we're having internal discussions about improving the search. This is one of the issues that are likely to be addressed if we overhaul the search functionality in its entirety.

            In summary, even though we would love to get this fixed, we can't give you any estimated time at the moment, and there are no firm plans to address it.

            Hi,

            Are there plans for this issue to be addressed, and if so, when?

            For any pages that use HTML or CSS in addition to wiki markup, the HTML code displays in search results list, making the search results unreadable.

            Thanks,
            Christine

            Hi,

            The version of confluence: 2.0 Build:#320

            I post a screenshot of a search result. On the first result we can read
            Unable to render embedded object: File (rstcrosstabsel.gif height=22) not found. the "subtab" of the !reportssel.jpg height=22
            which is not so readable for a common user of our help page...
            Moreover the second result contains embedded html which is also rendered just as it is.

            Therefore, what I was asking for is to have these results in a rich text format, as they appear when displayed normally as a page.

            I hope I have been clearer.
            Regards
            Barthélémy

            Barthélémy,

            Which version of confluence does this occur in?

            Could you also post an example/screenshot of the search results so that we can try and answer you the best we can?

            Thanks,

            Oups, I thought I was writing in the jira for Confluence. My mistake...
            In fact my question was related with the search function in Confluence which doesn't render the results in html. Should I create a new issue in the jira project CONF ?

            Cheers,

            Barth

            Hi Barthélémy,
            I am not sure what you are meaning with this issue. The field will display in the issue navigator with the renderer that has been specified in the field configuration. If you are seeing the field on the view issue screen in rendered wiki markup then it should display in the issue navigator in the same way. Please let me know if I am missing the point.
            Thanks,
            Dylan
