There should be an option to disable the text about /ai while typing in the editor when creating/editing a page.

[AI-3] Option to remove the AI text while in the editor

Hi everyone, officially closing this suggestion ticket now that the issue has been addressed. Do reach out to support if you are still seeing the text in empty lines.

I think they changed it? Now it's only shown when the entire page is empty, i. e. when creating a new page.

But it's no longer shown on empty lines with the cursor. Yay.

It would be great if AI was a button in the UI instead of the /ai command.  Just my 2 cents.

As this is getting more obnoxious now, can we find a pragmatic workaround, please? Like a greasemonkey script or something? I mean, this prompt is now basically attached to the cursor. It's ridiculous.

I used to see this at the start of a new blank page, which seemed reasonable ... but now I get it on every single new line of any page I create or edit, which seems a little excessive (and distracting).

I understand that there is likely an Atlassian marketing imperative driving this 'feature', but this falls firmly in the category of offensive marketing with the potential to drive away skilled IT decision-makers in droves.

By all means, leave this on by default, but:

            1. It must be able to be turned off in user preferences. Every single time I see this prompt, I think: "Maybe we need to find a new platform". That's every time I edit anything in an Atlassian product. I have been the decision maker who brought Atlassian to a few companies, and I'm not retiring any time soon. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
            2. The entire AI functionality should really be able to be turned off for a whole organization. Any organization with core-business imperatives around intellectual property (e.g. any type of publishing, any work adjacent to IP regulation, etc) will need to be able to prove that they have not used this feature and are not using it. These companies will need to be able to do this at setup time.
Note: This is regardless of how Atlassian implement their AI assistant; there are no robust standards for clean AI yet, and until these exist and stabilise for a few years, it won't matter how clean you are: All AI-derived content will be a problem.

If you do not intend to remove this feature, please consider at least making a prominent detailed statement about your position on this available on every product site.

            Thank you.

I'll echo Charles Mim. I can remember /ai, you don't need to stick it on every single new line.

I don't want to use the ai. My lack of engagement with it is because it's not appropriate for what I am doing, which is recording very specific information which is in my head, into wiki form.

I understand you have invested in ai, I understand you have ai capabilities. Everyone does. We get it. Message received. Now stop pestering us.

It is super disturbing. First you create a really nice editing experience, and then throw it all away with this irritating 'write assistance'.

Should we already order T-shirts with the tag '10 years AI-3'? I really hope not.

I'm so surprised that Atlassian is letting this happen, it seriously makes me want to quit using confluence, it's that bad. I know they understand how hard it is to write and get work done. That distraction every time is infuriating.

I'd even accept leaving the prompt on for when you first start editing the page, but it shouldn't show on EVERY NEW LINE. I can remember "/ai". This is extremely annoying.

Cross-posted from AI-1, since the two issues are the same.

Absolutely ridiculous that you add an annoying marketing message to EVERY LINE I insert on a new page and then say you have no plans to make it optional. We get it, you have AI !! Now, let us disable the constant haranguing message "Type /ai for writing assistance". Thanks for bringing Clippy back, but most people don't want assistance. If we do, we can remember to type "/ai" without you constantly (constantly, constantly) telling us to. It makes your product very annoying to use and will drive people to alternatives.

Hi Atlassian. I am a large Enteprise user. This is my first login to Jira issues portal.

We have 400+ people. If this feature was kept decent, maybe allow snoozing just on a per-user basis for say a month or so – it would have still gotten somewhere, you could have still had conversion numbers and a large enough user base to play with. Not everyone of us is going to opt-out, some of us will try, and everyone would have been open to that.

But you have decided to bully every single one of us, permanently. It's the old school "bad publicity is still publicity" thinking. Thanks to you, my easy answer to everyone in my org who asks about this is – we will in principle not be bullied into using a feature. Such features that require permanent strong-arming are known to be unworthy. You have successfully made your so-called AI feature taboo in our org and established a negative impression, we won't be going anywhere near it now even if you give it for free.

You are living the dream @derekb.  It still appears in my confluence, and I have no guidance about how to turn it off.

@derekb I would argue that there shouldn't be any prompts at all in the first place. If anything, Atlassian's "hey this product now has <cool-buzzword>, you should try it!" prompts should ONLY ever appear on user login (like an update notification), only one time, and only if the feature is actually enabled for the site.

Atlassian seems to design their products as if they expect every single function to be from a user trying it for the first time ever. There is a similar prompt when creating a new page:

"Did you know you can add all kinds of cool things to this page, like a table of contents, date, or roadmap? Type / to open a list, and @ to mention someone (we'll let them know)."

A notification like this is only ever relevant for someone who has never used Confluence before. There is no reason for this to be shown every time, just like there is no reason for the /ai prompt to be shown every time.

A prompt should be short and not confusing the users.

The current one is very disturbing when one is focusing on the work:

Type /ai to tell Atlassian Intelligence to write or edit anything

Please Atlassian, remove this ad or allow us to edit the prompt altogether.

This is partially related to AI-1. This /ai text is particularly disruptive though and should be an easy fix (easier than the wider scope of AI-1 at least).

It's really annoying, we pay montly for Confluence and we would like to not have any Ads in an app that isn't free that we use internally.
