These don't update for Okta provisioning either. Allowing Desc syncing would be VERY helpful.

In the meantime... it would be nice if you would allow us to EDIT the DESCRIPTION MANUALLY, until you unlock the ability to sync the description.  You could soften the pain of the functional gap by enabling the ability to edit manually.

Our organization has over 10k groups and descriptions are a way of audit controls. Without these mapping this causes a significant increase in duplicate efforts to align the Atlassian side group to the Azure Group + Description. Please implement this or provide us all with a way of adding a custom mapping from the Azure Group provisioning.

This would be an incredibly useful feature for me as we use groups to help with access management and having descriptions is really helpful to ensure correct access is granted and to understand older access grants.

 Currently, the description field from Azure AD does not sync to Atlassian groups, which makes it challenging to maintain consistent group metadata across platforms.

Syncing group descriptions would greatly enhance group management by ensuring that important context is consistent in both systems, reducing administrative overhead and minimizing errors. This would improve efficiency and user experience for teams managing group information.

I hope this feature can be added soon as possible.

At the very least, allow the description of the synced group(s) to be edited/modified "locally" inside the Atlassian Administration portal.   As things stand, the synced groups are locked from any changes.  Having an expressive description of your groups is perhaps at least as important as SCIM syncing of the group description itself from your SSO provider.

How hard could it be to add such a simple change?

We would love to have this feature as well. We have more than 150 Azure groups just for Confluence, and to automate stuff, the AzureGroup name contains the spacekey. In addition we added the SpaceName to the description of the AzureGroup. Would be really good for human readability to also have the AzureAD group description synced towards Atlassian Access.

Yes This is really required to sync the description as well with group name and members list.

+1 to this one - this would help for better usage of the groups synced from our Azure AD since many of our groups in AAD contain descriptions
