Problem Definition

In several cases, when a user logs in via Google or has their account provisioned via the Google Workspace integration (Guard-enhanced or free version), an account with atlassian_conflict in the email is produced.

Admins should be warned if a sync or login will cause the creation of an atlassian_conflict account and provided steps to prevent it (if they want to).

Why this is important

Admins who integrate with Google Workspace currently have no way of knowing whether their users will generate atlassian_conflict accounts. Atlassian_conflict accounts sometimes contain key user information (Jira tickets, Confluence pages, etc.) and users login to the wrong account.

Workaround

There is no way currently to know if a sync will create atlassian_conflict accounts. There is also no UI or API to query for the Google Id of your user's Atlassian accounts, preventing users from looking ahead themselves.

An update will be provided here if a warning is added that notifies admins of a potential sync or login will cause the creation of an atlassian_conflict account.
