Unauthenticated Service Desk Customers can browse but not View Confluence Linked KB

NOTE: This bug report is for JIRA Service Desk Cloud. Using JIRA Service Desk Server? See the corresponding bug report.

      Summary

As Described in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-30161 a service desk customer cannot view KB articles for a linked Confluence Space If Anonymous access is enabled for the space. BUT the customers can partially View the content when browsing in the service desk customer portal. Once the content is selected it fails to load, causing an overall confusing and negative customer experience as content displayed should be accessable.

      Environment

      • JIRA Service Desk Linked to KB
      • Anonymously accessable Confluence Space

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Configure Service desk KB Link
      2. Set the space linked to the portal as anonymously accessable
      3. Logged into the portal as a Service desk customer search for content
      4. Select the link to the content populated in the search results Solutions from knowledge base

      Expected Results

      Either:

      • the Content is not populated by the search results as the current permissions for the customer will prevent them from viewing the content

      OR:

      • the Content will load once selected

      Actual Results

Service Desk Customer selects link to suggested article displayed (Showing partial content) in the portal search results but is presented with an behavior described in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-30161 and cannot access the content displayed from the portal through the oAuth link

      Workaround

      1. For a customer to view content without confusion, disable anonymous access to the space and set up the KB link as described here:

            Hi all,

We understand this is causing frustration for those who want to share anonymously accessible content to unlicensed users.

However, if you are using JIRA Service Desk, you can use the following workaround to allow JIRA Service Desk customers (unlicensed users) to view content in anonymous spaces without needing to log out:

            1. Create or navigate to a Service Desk project
            2. Go to project settings (cog icon at the bottom of the sidebar) > knowledge base
            3. Select "Link to a Confluence space" and follow the prompts to link to the anonymous space you wish unlicensed users to see

Unlicensed access will be enabled automatically when the space is linked and you should see the following section:

If you later unlink the anonymous space from being a JIRA Service Desk knowledge base, unlicensed users will still be able to view the content in the anonymous space without needing to logout.

As the originator for this Bug report I want to go ahead and comment. This is a bit of a blocker and a huge inconvenience. I like to automate everything and I am not even sure I can automate the creation of the unlicensed confluence user when customers accounts are created in JSD. Please help.
