Sub Task Quick Creation form does not respect Create Issue screen

I really like the quick-add method of adding sub-tasks using the form on the parent issue display screen. The only downside is that when I try to set the assignee using the dropdown provided, it never works. The subtask always gets assigned to the project lead (the default behavior for newly created issues in that project).
