Invalid Date error message not shown on Create Issue Screen

Currently if you input the wrong date into a custom field this is returned:

fields.validation.data.format

Instead of

Invalid date format. Please enter the date in the format "d-MMM-yy".

This is also a problem for Invalid date. Cannot search for dates before 1970
