Description
Issue Summary
Jira Data Center bundles with the PostgreSQL JDBC driver.
The version of the bundled driver may vary depending on the Jira feature version.
The driver version may even change between Jira bug fix versions, specially on a Long Term Support Release, such as 9.4.
The Supported Platforms document has an information saying Jira uses driver version 42.2.23 on any Jira version, which isn't accurate:
Jira is tested and bundled with the 42.2.23 JDBC driver.
Below is a (not complete) list of the driver version depending on the Jira version.
Jira version |
PostgreSQL JDBC driver version |
---|---|
Jira 9.0.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.1.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.2.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.3.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.4.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.4.9 | 42.2.27 |
Jira 9.4.10 | 42.3.3 |
Jira 9.4.11 | 42.3.8 |
Jira 9.5.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.6.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.7.0 | 42.2.27 |
Jira 9.8.0 | 42.2.25 |
Jira 9.9.0 | 42.6.0 |
Jira 9.10.0 | 42.6.0 |
Jira 9.11.0 | 42.6.0 |
Maybe we could have a document similar to Bundled Tomcat and Java versions, but referring to the bundled JDBC driver version.
Steps to Reproduce
Not needed
Expected Results
The supported platform accurately mentions the JDBC version bundled with Jira.
Actual Results
The document mentions all Jira versions are bundled and tested with the JDBC driver version 42.2.23.
Workaround
Administrators can check the PostgreSQL JDBC driver version based on the file name in
<jira-install>/lib/postgresql-<version>.jar
