    Description

      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Customer scenario: We had a user that wanted to use the csv importer to create new stories with "is a story in" link to an existing Feature (see attached "NewStoryImport.csv"). However, when using the csv importer, it only creates the link "stories" when creating a NEW Story to an EXISTING Feature – it creates the link backwards to what the user wants.

      Expectations / Requirement:

      In short, when the new issues are created and linked to existing issues - they are always added as outward links in new issues and new issues are added as inward links in already existing issues. There's a need to have an option to perform vice-versa as well.

      • Option to choose Inward/Outward links and set the same during CSV import for issues.
      • Accordingly the parent issues (existing) should be reflected with Inward/Outward links as against only Inward links.

      Steps to import:

      1. JIRA Admin -> System -> External System Import -> Import from Comm-separated values(CSV)
      2. Choose a file to import then to project
      3. At Map Field page when you link this new issue to existing issue, it only show Outward description list.
        • It will be great to list the Inward Description list or Allow to map link endpoints.
      4. Once imported it creates the link backwards.
