XML export fails if description of custom field contains umlaut characters

I created a custom field with the name "ÄÖÜ Test". The XML export in the issue navigator now fails because the export seems to contain the string

<customfieldname>ÄÖÜ Test</customfieldname>

which is not legal XML.
