Exceptions using Workflow Designer / View Workflow using Java 1.7

Details:

When trying to view/edit a Workflow using the Workflow Designer or viewing a workflow through an issue JIRA throws exceptions:

Steps to replicate the issue:

1. Using Java 1.7, start JIRA;
2. Import this sample workflow;
3. Try to edit the workflow in the Workflow Designer;
4. Try to view the workflow from within an issue;

Actual Behavior:

Trying to view the workflow through an issue:

Trying to view the workflow using the Workflow Designer: (the spinner freezes indefinitely)

Upon editing the workflow using the Workflow Designer:

Workaround:

Unfortunately at this stage there is no known workaround for JIRA versions 6.0.x and higher.
