Setting due date to the current date shows error

I keep getting this form error when creating a new bug for a project:

Form Errors:
An exception occurred: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: isHasIssuePermission can only take an Issue: Project is not..

I get this error when I set the due date to todays/current date. The error is gone if set the due date to a later date.
