Attached images should have a AJAX popup option

Often when you are looking at an issue in JIRa you need to see some image attached to the issue.

However when you click on them it takes you from the issue information to the image. hence you lose your "issue" context.

You can do a CTrl-Tab and swicth between tabs however there is a still a loss of context.

Maybe we could have a AJAX popup thingy that displays the image inline to the page via jQuery magic. I figure it s like the SlideShow thingy in Confluence and a bit like the wiki markup preview thingy.

The image would be shown inline to the page, with some attention to not overriding the issue information as much as possible. even if it does cover issue information, it still is less "context" switch in terms of viewing the image attachment.

I would leave the old style image link there and have a preview icon next to it as well.

Apprently in jQuery you can do this in just 1 line (500 chained functions maybe but one line!)
