    Description

JIRA should display the custom filed column despite the restriction placed on the custom filed and if any of the returned issues are not configured with the given custom filed, JIRA could indicate this fact by displaying N/A for those issues.

Currently, if one searches in Issue Navigator over multiple projects or issue types configured to display a custom field that is constrained either by Issue Type or Context and not all returned issues are configured with the custom filed, Issue navigator will not display the column for this custom filed.

You will only ever see the custom filed column if all the issues in the view are of the same issue type and that issue type is the one your custom field is configured for. I'm assuming the reason for this is that it can be misleading to show a column with no values for issues that can not even have that value assigned.

However, many users recognise the current JIRA behaviour as either misconfiguration of their installation or a bug in the application, which automatically results in new SAC cases.

Currently, a possible workaround this restriction/limitation is to configure the custom fields with the global context or perform a search only on a given Issue Type that the custom field is configured with.
