Multiple file upload fails when the sum of files size exceed the upload limit, even if each file is smaller than the limit.

When I try to upload multiple files (each less than 1M - 750K to be exact) the download fails with each fields displaying an error that I cannot upload a file greater than 1024K. I am assuming it is testing against a cumulative file size? Either the warning should be clearer or it should let you upload the files.
