Description
After adding the "Component Lead" on to the Notifications, we noticed that email messages ceased to be sent out and that we had hundreds of messages on the Error Queue. Upon investigation, it turned out that the emails were failing due to a NullPointerException. Removing the Component Lead from the notification allowed the email to be sent.
I think the error occurs if there is no component lead specified, but I am not positive.
Attached is a patch that should resolve the issue.
