Work Description Field should be mandatory on the Log Work Operation Screen

      During the Log Work Done operation, TIME SPENT field is mandatory but the Work Description field is not.
      It would be very nice to have this capability mandatory, if not configurable w.r.t.the contexts/projects: because those informations are so important that developers could not skip them, if they want to.

      Workaround

      Currently the best supported options may be the following plugins:

            The "JIRA Misc Workflow Extensions" plugin is not a workaround for this issue.  

            This ticket appears to have been ignored by Atlassian for almost 20 years.  Wonder why they have it opened

            Same here, needed to provide the description of what has been done during the work logged.

            An option to make it mandatory would be really needed. Even globally, the simpliest to implement.

            At least add an option in your new automation rules. It will empoyer your customer to use this new feature and bring to use the possibility to make work description mandatory.

            As workaround you can add your custom script (e.g. JS code in announcement banner) that rewrites standard work log form submit and makes work description field mandatory.
