      Suggestion

It would be extremely helpful if we were able to create filters for use with dashboards, etc. where a project type or category matched certain criteria.

This would allow us to create a core, servicedesk, or software specific dashboard which would amalgamate all issues between different projects together based on this criteria.

[JRACLOUD-45847] Add 'Project Type', ' Project Category' to JQL fields

I concur, this is only partially resolved. Project type is supported but Project Category isnt, which would be very useful.

Can this be reopened, or is there another ticket to track this requirement?

Update: Apologies, ive just seen that project categories now turn up when searching using the "category" field. Thanks!

This issue is only half resolved.

Basic Jira Cloud (not extended with aftermarket apps) still cannot query on project category. We have (1) internal development, (2) external development, and (3) product maintenance and support development categories within our software project type, and I need to be able to query them to create effective dashboards for my project management and operations teams.

On the all Projects view, this filter is available, but not as an advanced filter / JQL property.

ETA: I apparently can't add inline images to a comment, or attachments to the issue.

Would be great to be able to include Project Categories in the Advanced Roadmap features - group by Category or filter by Category

Can projectType be extended to include Team-managed vs Company-managed (as displayed in the Projects listing UI), or could a new search term could be created like projectStyle which would correspond to the style attribute that's returned in the API project calls (classic vs next-gen)?

This probably needs to be a new feature request.

marijn.vanzon Based on older comments i feel project category might already be supported. Can you see if this works? https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/advanced-searching-fields-reference-764478339.html#Advancedsearching-fieldsreference-CategoryCategory

@Prasad Prabhu In the posts I do not find anything about being able to search on Project Category. That's a much more valuable field than Project Type, and the reason I was following this ticket. Project Category is something you can use to group and organise projects, since you can define your own categories, which you should also be able to search based on it.

            Hello,

Our team has just added support for 'projectType' and rolled it out. Here's some documentation on how you can use this feature: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/advanced-searching-fields-reference-764478339.html#Advancedsearching-fieldsreference-projectTypeProjecttype

Feel free to try it out and drop a comment here if it doesnt work or if you guys face any issues with it.

You can now search using the term "projectType" with the options "software", "business" and "service_desk".
