Resolution: Won't Do
NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.
I'm surprised and dismayed that Jira has no built-in support for a per-component default QA contact, with automatic assignment at issue creation, a huge lacuna in a tool that bills itself as a "bug and issue tracker." I'm sure this request has been filed many times, but a quick search didn't turn up anything obvious. I found the following thread on the web:
http://osdir.com/ml/java.jira.user/2004-11/msg00338.html
But the comments by the Jira person are vague, at best, and a specific workaround example would really be appreciated. I've been involved in QA for almost 20 years and in that time I've never been at a company, large or small, whose bug tracking tool didn't support default QA contact by component (or similar notion). If there is a Jira workaround for such a feature can it be linked to this report?
