    Description

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

There are many good reasons to prefer centrally configuring mail servers in the application server, and then exposing them via JNDI, rather than configuring mail servers directly in JIRA This is possible and documented for SMTP servers.

Unfortunately for POP and IMAP servers, we don't allow the specification of a JNDI location. This means, for example, that one cannot SASL/digest authentication for IMAP servers.
