our users insist on creating lots of separate large text fields (similar to the description field) to avoid using the comments feature becuase they like segregating the type of information in the various fields. they've all said they'd be willing to use comments if only there were a customizable comment type – something I could attach to the comments so I could see all similar comments on a single tab, e.g. "developer notes" or "testing suggestions" or something like that. this field would be optional, and if values were defined, the comments tab on the view issue screen would be split into multiple comments tabs, one per type.
