    Description

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Portfolio Server. Using JIRA Portfolio Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

It would be ideal if you could add in time tracking that would be turned on and off for any jira ticket by controlling it with the following buttons:

Start Tracking | Pause Tracking | Stop Tracking

Ideally it would let you turn on time tracking for any issue that would run in the background until you turned it off. You would also have the ability to edit it like you do with current time tracking entries. This would be important because it would let developers or QA people just let the time tracking run in the background without them having to think about start/stop and totals.
