      Problems synchronizing with JIRA user base can cause many errors like this:

      2012-04-16 17:38:08,441 WARN  [btpool0-16 ] fisheye.app LoginServlet-login - error checking password
      com.cenqua.fisheye.rep.DbException: User named "username" already exists.
      

      FishEye is case sensitive. JIRA now has Crowd embedded and hence inherited Crowd's case insensitiveness. This is the root cause of the problem.

      The suggestion here is to force all usernames to be lowercased by default, instead of having to do this manually by following this document:
