    Description

      I just upgraded from Crucible 2.0 to Crucible 2.0 and experienced an issue when starting crucible because it was unable to connect to the internet to check the update site. The error is provided below:

      2010-03-20 15:03:55,151 ERROR [ProductUpdatePoller] fisheye.app com.cenqua.fisheye.util.ProductUpdatePoller$1-run - Error while checking for newer versions from http://update.atlassian.com (Connection timed out: connect)

      If crucible is setup to receive automatic updates should it fail to start if it cannot connect to the update site? I don't think this is the intended functionality, because internet outages can be common depending on the environment you are working in.

      The steps to replicate would be as follows:

      Install crucible and tell it to automatically update
      Disconnect server from internet
      Try to start crucible.

      After you try to start crucible you should see an error like I provided above and your users will not be able to get into the crucible application.

      My workaround for this was to go into the config.xml file and change the enabled attribute of the check-for-updates element to false.

      <check-for-updates enabled="false"/>
