Hi everyone,
This is Michael Andreacchio (Andy) from the Confluence team. Thank you for your interest in this suggestion.
I'm pleased to say that this feature request is resolved via our Global Permissions Overview page already within Confluence. This feature allows admins to specify groups that can be determined to grant and contain licensed users. More information about the Global Permissions Overview can be found here https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/global-permissions-overview-138709.html
Kind regards,
Michael Andreacchio

Global admins should be given the ability to specify a particular group to represent "Registered Confluence Users." For instance, it would be extremely valuable if I could set our LDAP group "Users" to represent "Registered Confluence Users" rather than the Confluence default group, "confluence-users". This would make space creation and permissioning more intuitive for the common user. Currently the only member of the "confluence-users" group in our Confluence instance is the administrator. All other user/group permissions are managed by our LDAP server. Giving the admin the ability to set the default "Registered Confluence Users" group would eliminate a lot of the headaches our "non-technical" wiki users are experiencing in trying to make their spaces viewable and editable by others.
