      Atlassian Update – 28 December 2022

      Hi everyone,

We’re excited to let you know that we've started work on this suggestion. This is on our public roadmap to be delivered in Q2 2023 calendar year.

Provide users with an improved content creation flow by allowing them to view and resolve inline comments in the editor.

      Kind regards,

      Charlie Marriott

      Confluence Data Center

At the moment the inline comments feature is only visible when viewing a page. This issue is to track customers requests for viewing it while editing.

[CONFSERVER-36956] Ability to see inline comments while editing

@Jen this feature has been in Confluence cloud since 2020 as per https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-articles/Inline-comments-while-editing-FINALLY/ba-p/1444781. It does however only work when using the new editor, not the old one.

why was this only applied to the data center? this item is not closed until this functionality has been applied to all Confluence users, including Cloud. this is a terrible user experience when trying to review and edit documentation with peers.

A fix for this issue is available in Confluence Server and Data Center 8.3.0.

2743bee38446 The code base is the same for Server and Data Center, so any CONFSERVER tickets apply to both. The difference lies on the license type that unlocks the additional DC features.

Will this feature be available for Data Center or just Server? Are they on same codebase?

Thanks for putting this on the roadmap. It's frustrating to have to switch back and forth between edit and view modes to see other user's comments and then address them between different states.

Just another example of Atlassian saying FU to the customer base that made them who they are today.

It is baffling to me that anyone would consider the current operation to be working properly. The reason for adding comments to a document is so someone can later fix those comments, yet I, as the editor, need a separate copy of my document to find the comments I am trying to fix. Nice to see third parties generate plugins/profit from confluence bugs.

            Hi there,

I suppose that feature won't be released in DC, unfortunately...

Here's the app: Talk - Advanced Inline Comments[ http://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/978531/talk-advanced-inline-comments?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview that can help you with that.|http://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/978531/talk-advanced-inline-comments?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview]

It also provides a lot of features that native inline comments lack. F.e., the Suggestion feature to propose text corrections on a page, Talk Report feature that allows overviewing comments on a page/space, and other features that significantly improve your experience with inline comments.
