It's quite hard to convince the users to leave a comment in the 'What did you change?' field after they have modified a page. They just ignore the field. Since 'Notify watchers' is switched on by default, the watchers get notification mails but they cannot see what the change was about. To find out, they have to click the link and check. Quite often it was a small change and not important for them, so this proves wasted time.
We would like configuration options in Confluence administration:
- 'What did you change?' required field yes / no
- 'Notify watchers' default on / off

CONFCLOUD-33546 Add configuration option for 'What did you change?' or 'Notify watchers'

This feature would be great to increase the data quality and make it much easier to find the right version of a page to restore. Since this is pretty standard and good practice in software version control systems, IMHO it would be a perfect fit for Confluence as well
