    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

It's quite hard to convince the users to leave a comment in the 'What did you change?' field after they have modified a page. They just ignore the field. Since 'Notify watchers' is switched on by default, the watchers get notification mails but they cannot see what the change was about. To find out, they have to click the link and check. Quite often it was a small change and not important for them, so this proves wasted time.

We would like configuration options in Confluence administration:

      • 'What did you change?' required field yes / no
      • 'Notify watchers' default on / off

[CONFSERVER-33546] Add configuration option for 'What did you change?' or 'Notify watchers'

This feature would be great to increase the data quality and make it much easier to find the right version of a page to restore. Since this is pretty standard and good practice in software version control systems, IMHO it would be a perfect fit for Confluence as well

Needed for CMMI compliance audits, would help our team a lot.

Agreed on this change making it easier to identify Confluence changes that are relevant!

Also agreed that this would make it easier to identify what has changed, at a glance, using the page history screen.

For my team and me, it´s important this option, because it is true, although it is part of the organizational rules the users do not pay attention.
In addition, it supports us using them for the generation of baselines

This feature is helpful for us. It will let users pay attention to this field. It is one of the priorities for us.

It would also be good to trigger this if the document contains a certain label.

Please implement this into the tool.

Please include this feature to Confluence. This would really help our company identify what changes are being made to a specific document at a quick glance at the history page.

We would also like to recognise by looking at the page history which was the original copy of a document before any updates have been made. This field is being ignored.

The ability to make the "What did you change?" field mandatory would be helpful for us, as our internal quality control procedures require it, and changes are analysed
