Unable to modify permissions after upgrade

I'm trying to modify a space permission and I'm running into a problem when I try to add a user. I get a "You are not allowed to remove all the Administration Permissions for this space." I think this is a bit of a catch 22 because I was able to Administer the space before the upgrade if my name wasn't on the list, now when I try to add any user, I get an exception saying that I cannot remove the admin privilages from the space.
