Confluence does not reindex the whole cluster after a site import

When doing a site import, there is an option to do a reindex. In a clustered environment one would expect a reindex on every node. Until such a reindex occurs the index on other nodes will be completely inconsistent with the database and search results will be wrong.

It's easily worked around by performing a manual reindex on each node.
