Inter-space link loses space assignment each time the page is edited

becomes

| Functional\ Specs: | [Page Name]- continuing text

each time I re-open the page for editing. This causes a red link to suggest creating a new page in the current space. If I change the link back to [space:Page Name] in wiki markup, it will properly reference the link to its correct space, but it is lost on the next page edit. This is highly annoying.
