Description
On implementing CONF-12918 there is now an additional factor involved in ranking search results which should probably be documented at -
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Ranking+of+Search+Results
This new factor is the age of a result. The boosting is quite coarse grained and is as follows -
Document Creation Time | Boost Factor |
---|---|
Today | 1.5 |
Yesterday | 1.3 |
Up to 1 week ago | 1.25 |
Up to 1 month ago | 1.2 |
Up to 3 months ago | 1.15 |
Up to 6 months ago | 1.10 |
Up to 1 Year ago | 1.05 |
Beyond a year | no boost |
The boost factor is pretty small so want have a large affect. However if two documents match in all other ways then the newer one will be presented first. However, if two documents being compared are both older than a year then their relative recentness does not matter.
