No way currently to embed .mpp file other than linking to it
This doesn't permit the user to view the file in Confluence, only once downloaded.

So users can view the Gantt charts, etc. created in Microsoft Project

Convert the .mpp file to something such as an image screenshot or PDF and embed that.
