Many users don't realise that they can embed slideshare presentations in their pages via the widget connector. I've seen recent examples where people have create pages with links to slideshare presos in their pages when they wanted to embed them. If the link autoconverted to the embed widget when the user pasted it, they would be able to more easily discover the feature.
