I'm aware that Internet Explorer 9/IE 9/IE9 is not supported according to Confluence 3.5 documentation:
      http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Supported+Platforms

But, see forum thread "IE 9 And confluence 3.5": http://forums.atlassian.com/thread.jspa?threadID=52483&tstart=0

There are a number of people that would like information as to why it isn't supported. They also want to know when support is planned to be added. IE9 apparently has been deployed in customer environments that are using Confluence, and it is reported that when attempting to edit content, it will not save.

I have not reproduced this, but I'm reporting it on behalf of these users.

          Form Name

[CONFCLOUD-22060] Please add support for Internet Explorer 9

IE9 is a supported browser for Confluence 4.0.

Happy to report I was able to add this line to my Conf 3.4.1 server and it "just works" will need to plan for the 4.0 upgrade in a few months. Hopefully this will keep my users at bay until then.

After changing the template you don't need to restart the app

got to "Confluence Admin > Cache Statistics"

And then click "flush" at "UI Templates"

And voila the new template will be delivered.

            My observations:
Confluence 3.5.1: Editing is possible using wiki markup mode.
Confluence 3.4.9: Switching to Compatibility view will enable most, if not all, IE8 functionality. Some few layout problems involving sections, columns, and other table views.

Elaine, our timeline for IE9 support (targeting the 4.0 release) is similar to what you mention: three to six months. In the meantime, Confluence 3.5.2 enables IE8 emulation mode (CONF-22330), which we believe has fixed the most critical issues with Confluence and IE9.

            Which version are you running?

Have a look at the release notes for 3.5.2 or 3.5.3.

No doubt the Atlassian guys will give you a more definitive reply.

We are currently running IE9 on a beta test machine and confluence does not save changes in IE9. Do you have a time frame of when you will be supporting IE9?

            Thanks!

Confluence 3.5.2 should work much better with IE9, as we are shipping the workaround included above. This puts IE9 into IE8-emulation mode, which solves the most critical problems in our quick testing.

Of course, using an emulation mode cannot be our long-term solution to this problem, so work is already underway by the dev team on supporting IE9 for the next major version of Confluence. We're in the process of upgrading our testing infrastructure and fixing the known issues with IE9. Mostly this involves upgrading TinyMCE and restricting many old IE hacks to only run in IE8 or lower. There will undoubtedly also be some new issues that we'll discover along the way.

In summary, 3.5.2 has a quick fix that should address the major issues for early adopters, the next major version (4.0) is planned to come with complete support for IE9. Thanks everyone for your interest and support.
