  • Edit a page in confluence with CAPTCHA Spam Prevention turned on.
  • Do not touch the CAPTCHA field, just click Cancel
  • the error message key "captcha.response.empty" is displayed.

The user shouldn't have to type anything into the CAPTCHA field to cancel their edit. Note that they currently just have to type anything into the field, to avoid the message. They do not have to type the correct word.

cf CONF-7361about getting the error key instead of the message.

Don, can you please review that the bug was fixed as you would like it to?

Unfortunately a broken fix to this bug made it to a 2.6.2 release candidate currently installed on confluence.atlassian.com.
This is fixed in the next 2.6.2 release candidate.
In the meantime IE6 users will see Javascript errors when they submit edit and create page forms. The javascript errors do not prevent the submission working, but they are annoying and confusing.
