The existing Bitbucket Cloud repository integration in Bamboo is limited to username/app-password and SSH-keys authentication. We propose an extension to this integration to incorporate support for Workspace and Repository access tokens.
With this enhancement, while establishing a Bitbucket Cloud repository in Bamboo, users should be given the choice to either use the current username/app-password option for initial account setup or input an Access token.
If an Access token is opted for, Bamboo should automatically adopt the x-token-auth account for subsequent interactions if a "username and password" authentication is later chosen during repository selection.
Optionally, whenever write access is required to the repository, a special email address must be provided by Bamboo when pushing changes back to the repository. That e-mail address is provided by Bitbucket Cloud upon the token creation.
This proposed feature will offer substantial benefits to our Enterprise customers. It will simplify operations in Bamboo and Bitbucket Cloud by eliminating the necessity to create service accounts solely for repository access. Additionally, it will streamline the management of repository access, removing the need to duplicate configurations when using a workspace token.
